ERNEST W. NANCE, Director, Park District of Highland Park, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the National Recreation and Park Association. Nance will represent the Great Lakes District.

The NRPA is a non-profit service and educational organization concerned with improving park and recreation facilities and programs, providing more wholesome and meaningful leisure opportunities for everyone, conserving natural and human resources and beautifying the total American environment.

Nance formerly served as Chairman of the Great Lakes Regional Council of the NRPA. Also, he has been president of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association; Commissioner, Illinois Department of Conservation Police Merit Board; and judge of the National Sports Foundation Gold Medal Awards. He is the recipient of the Illinois Parks and Recreation Foundation Distinguished Service Award.

The Great Lakes District includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and Ohio.

The Park District of Highland Park (IL.) has a new landscape architect for park planning and design, Heis JAMES T. MUELLER, B.L.A.

Mueller was formerly associated with John R. Cook Associates, Landscape Architects, Rockford (IL.) and Allen L. Kracower, Urban and Environmental Planner, Des Plaines, (IL.).

Mueller received his degree in landscape architecture from Michigan State University.

The South East Association for Special Parks and Recreation, SEASPAR, announces the appointment of PEGGY KOBE to the position of Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor.

Mrs. Kobe received her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University, Layfette, Indiana, in Physical Education. She completed her Master's degree in Recreation and Park Administration in 1977 from the University of Illinois, Champaign, Illinois.

Peggy has worked for two years for the University of Illinois. Her duties at SEASPAR include leading some of the Therapeutic Recreation programs, supervising part-time instructors, and assisting to develop the total recreation program of this Special Recreation Association. She will also serve SEASPAR as the Summer Day Camp Supervisor. Peggy brings to SEASPAR a strong background in motor development and sports.

DON RAWLINS is the new Director of Chandler Leisure Center.

As a former member of the staff, Feb. 1968 to August 1971, Rawlins served in sequence as assistant director of Nichols Lighted School Center, Sports Supervisor and Director of Nichols Lighted School Center. He resigned the latter position in order to attain a master's degree in Municipal Park and Recreation Administration from the University of Indiana where he earlier had earned a bachelor's degree in the same field.

For the past two years Rawlins has been a counselor for the National Center of Child Abuse and Neglect in
Denver, Colo. Prior to that, he held various positions in private recreation in Colorado.

RICK BIETERMAN has recently been appointed Director of Parks and Recreation for the Village of Schiller Park Recreation Department.

Prior to coming to Schiller Park, Rick was a Recreation Supervisor for 2 1/2 years with the Evanston Recreation Department.

Rick is a 1973 Graduate of Murray State University, Murray, Kentucky with Bachelor of Science Degrees in Recreation and Park Administration and Communications.

THOMAS J. LIPPERT has recently been employed as Superintendent of Parks for the Hickory Hills Park District. Tom received his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University, and an A.A. degree from Rock Valley Junior College.

Tom served as Vice President of the I.P.R.A. Student Section in 1976-77 and was Park Foreman for the Rockford Park District. Tom has worked seven years in various capacities with the Rockford Park District and served as an intern for the Metropolitan Dade County Florida (Miami) Park and Recreation Department.

Hap Thorslenson of Howard L. White & Associates, Inc. (right) has received an award from Game Time, Inc. for the year of service performed as a member of the Representative Council for Game Time. Awarding the plaque to Hap Is Ross D. Siragusa, Jr., President of Game Time.
