RANDY RALSTON, left, has been hired as Athletic Supervisor for the Dundee Township Park District. He graduated from Western Illinois University in the field of Recreation and Park Administration and was formerly Assistant Recreation and Parks Director for Beardstown Park District. Ralston has been involved in the recreation and parks field for eight years. He did his internship with the Champaign Park District.

MS. JO ANN LODINE has been appointed Recreation Supervisor for the Salt Creek Rural Park District, with her primary responsibilities to be coordinator of all recreation activities within the park district. Ms. Lodine graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1979 with a degree in recreation and leisure studies and has also been associated with the Naperville and Wheaton Park Districts.

The Lake County Forest Preserve District has announced the hiring of WILLIAM PARISI as its new Supervisor of Golf for the Countryside Golf Course in Mundelein. Parisi received the Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from the University of Illinois, Champaign, in 1973. He became a member of the Professional Golfer's Association of America in 1977. Before joining the District, Parisi was the Golf Professional at the Springbrook Golf Course at the Naperville Park District.

DOROTHY GILLIAN, above left, has recently been appointed to the position of Recreation Supervisor at the Franklin Park Park District. She will be responsible for program planning and supervision, senior citizens and summer playgrounds. Dorothy was previously employed as the Assistant Director at the Howard Mohr Community Center, Forest Park, for two and one-half years. She received her A.A. Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Triton College in 1977.

MS. BILLY SIM SISLER, right, has recently assumed the position of Recreation Supervisor/Community Awareness for the Franklin Park Park District. Her responsibilities will include planning and supervising special events, trips, the development of the quarterly brochures, and public relations. Billy, a native of Nashville, Arkansas, received her Bachelor of Science Degree Cum Laude from George Williams College in Leisure Environmental Resources Administration with special emphasis on program supervision. She previously served as Recreation Supervisor for the Lombard Park District.

The Skokie Park District recently filled three top administrative positions.

MICHAEL A. FUGIEL, a 1980 graduate of Southern Illinois University with a Masters of Science in Education, Park and Community Recreation Management, was appointed to the position of Administrative Assistant.

BARBARA A. ALTWIES was appointed Manager of Recreation Services for the district, a position that was left vacant when Don C. Roberts resigned to accept a position with Recreation Concepts, Inc. Altwies, a 1971 graduate from Western Illinois University with a B.S. degree in Recreation and Park Administration, began working for Skokie Park District in January 1971. She has served as Assistant Recreation Center Director at Oakton Center, Recreation Director of Laramie Center, and Recreation Program Coordinator with overall responsibilities for district-wide recreation programs.

MR. JOHN A. LIPPOLD, Superintendent of Recreation for the Fox Valley Park District, recently retired after 33 years of service to the Aurora community. Lippold worked for the City of Aurora as Recreation Director from 1947 to 1962 and then became Superintendent of Recreation for the Fox Valley Park District until February, 1980. Lippold is a former board member of the Illinois Recreation Society and has also participated on panels in national. Great Lakes regional, and state park/recreation associations. He received his Bachelor of Science-Education degree from the University of Illinois.

RICHARD A. SCHOENEMAN was named Manager of Special Facilities, a position with responsibility for the overall operations of the Par 3 Golf Course and the Indoor Ice Skating Rink. Schoeneman graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Winona State University, Winona, Minnesota.

The Fox Valley Park District has recently hired PAUL E. HEINKEL as Superintendent of Recreation. Mr. Heinkel has served as the Assistant Superintendent of Recreation for the past three years, and coordinator for baseball, softball, soccer, district clubs and special events programs prior to that assignment. Heinkel was also Assistant Superintendent of Recreation in Alton for three years. He received a degree in Park & Recreation Administration from Southern Illinois University.

ROGER OPIELA, right, a native of Downers Grove, Illinois and a graduate of Purdue University, has been named Superintendent of Parks for the Sterling Park District. Opiela came from Itasca, Illinois where he was Superintendent of Parks and also the horticulturist for the Village of Itasca. Opiela becomes the fourth Superintendent of Parks in the 57-year history of the Sterling Park District. The current Superintendent of Parks, FRANK ASTARY, left, assumed the position in 1950. A special retirement dinner was held for Astary on Thursday, March 27, 1980, and attended by the Sterling Park District Board of Commissioners, full-time staff and the members of his family.

MS. MARCIA GLESENER, below, has recently assumed the position of Public Information Supervisor for the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District. Glesener was previously employed by the County of Lake in northwest Indiana as cultural/special events coordinator. She is a graduate of Cornell College in education and is pursuing a Masters in public administration at Indiana University Northwest.
