By now all IPRA members should have received a dues bill and information about the new dues structure. The brochure entitled Your Investment in IPRA thoroughly explains how the system will work. You as a member are a vital part of the operation of IPRA and thus have an investment in its operation. It is important for you to become involved in the association either through a committee or a special interest section. Dan Newport, the IPRA President as of November 15, 1980, is looking for IPRA members interested in serving on a committee. Below you will find a list and a brief description of each activity. Call the IPRA office at 312/991-2820 if you wish to become involved. Admissions and Standards—coordinates the IPRA registration plan and professional standards; awards continuing education points for workshops. Affiliate Relations—coordinates the activities of the various affiliate organizations and IPRA; prepares the Master Calendar. Awards and Recognitions—supervises the general and professional awards program. Community Education—works on community education guidelines with various state agencies. Conference—plans and coordinates the annual conference in November. Continuing Education—plans the midyear Happening and various management seminars. College/University Relations—works with the educational institutions and students in various areas. Election—conducts all elections. Ethics—monitors ethical practices and IPRA's Ethics statement. Fund Raising—conducts fund raising activities for additional revenue sources, supervises the ticket programs. Legislative—works with IAPD in legislative matters. Long Range Planning—responsible for the IPRA master plan and its update. Public Awareness—responsible for IPRA's public awareness campaign, commercials, and public visibility campaign. Publications—plans the membership directory and suggests improvements in other publications and newsletters. Sports and Activities—conducts statewide tournaments. Research—monitors the Facility Information Retrieval Systems and conducts various research projects, such as the salary survey. Editorial Board—supervises the production of Illinois Parks and Recreation magazine. Joint Public Awareness—works with IAPD on joint public relations. Membership—solicits new members for the Association and NRPA; investigates new membership services. Joint Purchasing—works on agency joint purchasing of various maintenance, athletic and recreation supplies. University/College Accreditation Committee—newly established Professional Development—newly established With the large number of committees available, IPRA needs a great deal of assistance. Please give us a call. You are encouraged to attend the Annual IPRA Membership Meeting during the conference on Saturday, November 15, at 3:00 p.m. Section meetings will take place immediately following the membership meeting.
