Coal series

EDITOR: As manager ot archaeological contracts for the State Museum Society, I have been familiarizing myself with the environmental aspects of surface coal mining, since new surface mines will require compliance with regulations that involve archaeological and historical impacts.

In the course of my research, I was referred to James Krohe's series on coal in your publication. I have just finished reading the first three articles and had to pause before continuing, to let you know how useful I find the series. The articles are jam-packed with solid data and perceptive insights into a complex field, yet presented with refreshing clarity that makes for a good read as well as a highly informative one.

Thank you for running the series. Have you given any thought to submitting the series for a journalism award?
