In October for the first time, a leadership training session was conducted for the incoming association board and committee chairpersons. The program was kicked off by a movie on the importance of the association's volunteer leaders. The Executive Director reviewed the history, growth and financial picture of IPRA. Fred Hall led a role play session on "Conducting Productive Meetings" and President-Elect Robin Hall spearheaded an MBO activity to develop goals for IPRA for the coming year. A more indepth report will appear in an upcoming association newsletter.

The new Board officially takes office during the November Conference. The results of the elections are Robin Hall-President; Dave Phillips-President-Elect; Jan Mersman-Secretary; Jan Linduska-Associate Board Member; Terry Schwartz-Central Rep; and Karen Correll-Metro Rep. Congratulations and best wishes for a productive year.

All agencies receive the minutes of IPRA Board meetings. We hope that the directors pass these on to all staff so that they can follow the operation of the association. Board meetings are open to all members. Next month in this column we will publish the dates.

An association can only be as strong as its volunteer leaders. I wish to thank the 1981 Board and committee chairs for the numerous volunteer hours they have spent for IPRA. Without their assistance you would not have a strong viable association. Congratulations especially to Dan Newport, 1981 President, for a job well done.

The results of his activities, and the committee and section programs can be found in the IPRA Annual Report. All members should be receiving a copy of this publication soon. We hope you will read it. The Annual Report contains a wealth of information about IPRA—your organization.

If you wish to volunteer your services please check the last issue of UPDATE, which contains a committee/section interest form. To become an involved member, just complete the interest form and mail it to the office. We need members who are willing to work. Let's hear from you now!!
