Interim Report on the Implementation of Block Grants in Illinois, prepared for the Illinois General Assembly by the Commission on Intergovernmental Cooperation, (October 1, 1981), 60 pp.

The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981 (P.L. 97-35) consolidated a great many of the existing categorical grant programs into nine block grants. This interim report describes each block grant, summarizes testimony presented at the three public hearings held by the commission, and makes a number of specific recommendations to the General Assembly regarding their implementation.

Outdoor Recreation in Illinois, 1981-1982 Action Program, Illinois Department of Conservation (October 1981), 64 pp.

Between July 1, 1981, and June 30, 1982, this third action program is addressing five recreation and conservation issues: natural areas and endangered species, wildlife habitat and wetlands, long-distance trails, water-based recreation, and cultural heritage. The issues were selected on the basis of public participation by a large number of citizens with widely varied backgrounds and interests. The report also gives a brief description of accomplishments during the previous year.

The 25 agencies belonging to the ICAA work with a total budget of $205,869,941 provided by a variety of sources. This booklet offers specific information on each agency, including telephone number and address, a description of programs and staff, as well as budget figures. An estimate is also made of the impact of the agency's operation on the local economy.
