145 ATTEND LIFE. BE IN IT. RECEPTION

The LIFE. BE IN IT. kickoff reception held May 24 at the Governor's Mansion in Springfield drew an attendance of 145 park and recreation professionals, legislators and other interested officials and individuals. Principal speaker was Hal Haskell, Wilmington, Delaware, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Recreation and Parks Association. Others who spoke were IPRA President David Phillips, Wheeling, and IAPD President Morgan Powell, Champaign. The reception was sponsored by the Joint Public Awareness Committee.


Hal Haskell, Wilmington, Delaware, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Recreation and Parks Association, gave the principal speech at the kickoff reception for LIFE. BE IN IT. He urged leisure professionals to vigorously support the movement.


Dr. Morgan Powell, Champaign, IAPD President, and Arlene Mulder, Arlington Park, co-chairperson of the Joint Public Awareness Committee, cut the first piece of the large LIFE. BE IN IT. cake prepared for the occasion. The Committee was in charge of the reception.

The three are (left to right) Hal Haskell, Wilmington. Delaware, chairman of the Board; Peter Koukos, Highland Park, also Past President of the IAPD, and Don Bresnan, Champaign. Koukos and Bresnan are two to six members from Illinois serving on the Board.
