VILLAGE OF WOODRIDGE RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD The Steel Plate Fabricators Association honored the Village of Woodridge on September 15 for its new water storage tank which was selected "Steel Tank of the Year" in the elevated category. The 1,500,000 gallon steel tank has an overall height of 85 feet with a pillar column of 60 feet. The design and finished colors of "antique brown" and "safety green" and special logos were selected to make it an attractive structure in its setting next to the village golf course. In a ceremony at the tank site Ward A. Gill, Executive Director of the Steel Plate Fabricators Association, presented engraved stainless steel plaques to the Village of Woodridge, to Alvord, Burdick & Howson of Chicago for engineering, to Neumann Company Contractors, Inc. of Bridgeview, Illinois for painting, and to Pittsburgh-Des Moines Corporation of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for fabrication. Steel Tank of the Year Awards are presented, annually by the Steel Tank Committee of the Steel Plate Fabricators Association in recognition of municipalities, and fabricators and their associates who have constructed attractive, aesthetic steel storage tanks. • Page 4 / Illinois Municipal Review / October 1987
