The Peoria Park District was honored for its efforts in hosting the 1986 conference. Director James O. Breen and Pres. Bonnie Noble accepted the award.


The Franklin Creek Preservation Area Committee was one of seven groups to receive an IAPD Merit Award. IAPD Vice-Pres. Linda Wander, Downers Grove Park District, made the presentation.

National Park Service Dir. William Penn Mott, Jr., underscored the important contribution that recreation makes to the national, state and local economies.

Jack Claes, director, Elk Grove Park District, was given a certificate of appreciation by the IAPD for his district's assistance in producing a Legislative Training Video which can be used by the IAPD and IPRA memberships. Kevin Kendrigan, director, Northwest Special Recreation Association, and Bill Kelly, cable productions coordinator, Elk Grove Park District, were also honored tor their work on this project.

The Peoria Park District relocated its Japanese Tea House at the Civic Center so it could be the focus of entertainment and other activities in the exhibit hall.
