Bob Anstine

Macomb Mayor Bob Anstine, President of the Illinois Municipal League, reports the retirement of Illinois Municipal League Executive Director Steve Sargent, effective December 30, 1989. The replacement of Mr. Sargent was a major focus of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the Illinois Municipal League, at the December 9th and 10th, 1988, meetings in Chicago. Following a lengthy discussion of what was best for the League and Illinois cities and villages, a motion was passed by both the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the Illinois Municipal League, declaring Assistant Director Tom Fitzsimrnons to be the Executive Director as of December 31, 1989. In making this decision, the Illinois Municipal League Board sees an opportunity to aggressively pursue organizational changes to meet the challenges to Illinois cities and villages in the 1990's. The board authorized a national search for a Legislative Affairs Director. This search is to begin immediately.
