William H. Taube

The National Institute of Municipal Law Officers (NIMLO), an organization of more than 2,000 municipalities represented by their chief legal officers and assistants, concluded its 53rd Annual Conference by electing William H. Taube, Corporation Counsel of Chebanse, Illinois as its 1988-1989 President.

Nearly 1,000 persons from around the country attended the Annual Conference held from October 30 to November 2, 1988 in Charleston, South Carolina.

William Taube is a partner in the Kankakee law firm of Taube, Carr & Carr. He had served as Corporation Counsel for Kankakee from 1965 to 1985. Within NIMLO he has held the posts of Regional Vice President, Trustee, Third Vice-President, Second Vice-President and most recently, First Vice-President.

He has had an active involvement in civic affairs in the Kankakee area including serving as President of the Kankakee Area Jaycees, President of the Kankakee Elks Youth Hockey League, President of the Kankakee County Bar Association, President of the St. John United Church of Christ Council and Chair of the Illinois Municipal League Legislative Committee.

William Taube is married to the former Joanne Carter. They have two children, John and Janette. and one grandchild. Mr. Taube received his B.S. from Memphis State University and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University. •
