Cable TV — The Next Decade On March 2 and 3, 1989, the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota will be hosting a national conference, "Cable Television: The Next Decade." The purpose of this forum is to air the central issues facing cable television in our country. Specifically, the conference will focus on first amendment concerns and the involvement of telephone companies and other nontraditional carriers of home video services. How these issues are resolved will have a lasting impact on each of us. The goals of the conference are four-fold: (1) to inform consumers on the complexity of the issues, (2) to examine questions confronting public officials, (3) to present a variety of viewpoints, and (4) to provide direction for the future. Confirmed speakers include: • Ed Markey, Congressman (MA) For further information about the conference, please contact the Citizen Education Program at the Humphrey Institute, (612) 625-6621.
