ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF
BUILDING AND ZONING

The Village of Bensenville, Illinois (Pop. 16,700), is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director of Building and Zoning. This department position, under the direction of the Director of Building and Zoning, is responsible for supervising municipal code enforcement relating to building, zoning, property maintenance, and includes issuance of building permits, plan review and field inspections. PROJECT DIRECTOR

The Illinois Tax Foundation, a nonprofit, government, research organization, located as 201 East Adams, Suite 350, Springfield, Illinois 62701, seeks a Project Director for the Illinois "Budget Watch" study. The "Budget Watch" project is a new undertaking. The mission is to review, analyze, and critique the Illinois state budget. The project will pursue detailed analysis of individual agency and program budgets with the opportunity to offer an assessment and alternatives for the state's spending plans. The Project Director should have substantial experience with state government budgets and familiarity or experience with Illinois governmental financing is preferred. The director must have a professional reputation in the field of public finance, budgeting, or public accounting. The director must be able to direct research, manage a small staff, and interact with the administration, members of the legislature, their staffs, and the press. The person must be an articulate and effective communicator in oral and written form. The Project Director will serve as a spokesperson on behalf of the Illinois Tax Foundation and the "Budget Watch" project. The director must also be an enthusiastic program advocate with the ability to take the concept and turn it into a viable, ongoing program within three years. This includes fundraising responsibilities. The Project Director must be willing to locate in Springfield, Illinois, and make at least a two-year commitment. The Village of Gurnee is accepting employment applications for the following qualified personnel. Civil Engineer — $26,385-$38,982 — DOQ. This is engineering works of a technical and administrative nature. Work involves responsibility for preparation and review of engineering plans, specifications and contracts for various construction projects, civil engineering design work, field work, and surveying, inspection and supervision of construction projects, and record keeping of the Village utility and public works systems. Assignments are received from a professional superior, but the individual is allowed latitude to plan work and make technical decisions. Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering. Experience in the practice of civil engineering is desirable, but not necessary. Civil Engineering Technician — $20,673-$33,674 — DOQ. This is engineering work of a technical and clerical nature. Assignments are received from a professional superior, but the individual is allowed some freedom to plan work and make some technical decisions. Work is performed under the general supervision of a technical superior and is evaluated through conferences, analysis of work and reports. Graduation from or a certificate from a two year course of study in Civil Engineering Technology or five (5) years of progressive experience in the field of civil engineering technology consisting of municipal engineering, or drafting, field work and construction inspection. Field Inspector — $19,689-$29,089 — DOQ. This is skilled inspection work securing compliance with village ordinances and regulations and approved engineering plans governing public works and utility construction projects. Work involves inspecting street, sewer, and water construction projects within the village to insure conformance with approved engineering plans, village codes and regulations. Work also involves inspection of sewer and water service installations to each property to insure conformance with village codes and ordinances. This person performs his work with considerable independence but consults with a superior on more difficult cases and decisions. Work is conducted under the supervision of a technical supervisor. Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school, supplemented by courses in construction or civil technology; experience in work of the related construction trades at the journeyman or foreman level; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

CHIEF OF POLICE

The Village of Lombard, IL, a progressive and growing community of 38,100 located in the Chicago area is seeking an experienced and innovative manager for the highly responsible position of Chief of Police. The Police Department has a budget of $3 million and 80 full-time and 15 part-time employees. BUILDING AND ZONING OFFICER

Some of the duties of this position are as follows: Inspects the construction of buildings, additions and alterations to insure compliance with building and zoning ordinances.
