ROBERT MARTIN

ROBERT MARTIN, 57, mayor of Wheaton since 1983 and the president of the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, died February 22, in his Wheaton home, 17 days after undergoing heart-bypass surgery. He had served for 10 years as a Wheaton city council member before his election as mayor. He was a member of the DuPage Water Commission and chairman of its predecessor agency; he worked for years to bring Lake Michigan water to the county, and the water is scheduled to begin flowing in 1992 and 1993. Mayor Martin served as member of the Illinois Municipal League Legislative Committee.

JEROME W. SLEEPER, 75, died Monday, February 12. He served on the Sterling City Council for 16 years. He was the mayor of Sterling from 1967-1971, was a member of the State Municipal League and served on its Board of Directors.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—A nine-member coalition of governmental organizations has nominated Stan E. Kennedy—village manager of Wilmette, Ill., and member of the International City Management Association (ICMA)—to serve a three-year term on the board of trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF).
