1991 NRPA Western Revenue Sources Management School to be held in Colorado

"The school is designed, to teach logic and problem solving"

The 1991 National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Western Revenue Sources Management School will be held at the Aspen Lodge, located seven miles south of Estes Park in Colorado, and near the entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park. This will be the 14th year the school has been conducted.

The school consists of two annual one-week sessions of study and lectures. At the completion of the first year class, each delegate receives a certificate. At the completion of the second year course, a diploma is awarded. Running concurrently with the first and second year classes will be the Graduates Institute open to those who have graduated from the school, or from another revenue school sponsored by NRPA.

The tuition is $290 and room and board is $275, all inclusive. Double occupancy lodging will be from Sunday, Feb. 17, through Thursday evening, Feb. 21,1991. Meals will start with dinner on Sunday evening and end with lunch on Friday, Feb. 22.

Free time activities include downhill skiing; racquet ball; ice skating; cross country skiing; snowmobiling; horse drawn sleigh riding; a lour of Rocky Mountain National Park; and sight seeing in Estes Park. A complete physical fitness center is also available to the delegates at the Aspen Lodge.

The first year course curriculum will consist of the following: Why Revenue Producing Services?; Promoting Leisure Services; Basic Budget Construction — Where Docs the $ Go; Structuring Parks and Recreation Departments for Revenue; Role of Concessionaire, Contracts and Management; Quality Customer Relations; Quality Services and Aquatics; Enterprise Funds; Time Management; Marketing and Advertising Principles; Revenue Methods for Community Recreation Facilities — Old Things, New Ways; Debate: Legislating Public-Private Recreation; Panel Discussion — Friends or Foe of Boys and Girls "Y" Clubs; Gaining Acceptance Through Public Relations Techniques; Fees and Charges Policies; and Merchandising and Concessions Operations.

The second year course curriculum will consist of the following: Tourism and Its Impact; Networking with Tourism for Recreation Revenue; Measuring Impact and Lobbying for Parks, Recreation and Conservation; Setting Fees for Service and Use of Recreation Facilities; Methods of Competing for Budget Funds; Use of Volunteers in Programs; Revenue Producing through Programming for Seniors; Liability and Legal Problems in Revenue Producing Recreation Services; Corporate Sponsorships and Recreation Programs; Risk Management; Debate—Legislating Public-Private Recreation; Foundations and Revenue Applications; Organizing and Marketing of Public Elections for Revenue; Revenue Enhancement by Front Line Employees; Computer Programs — Revenue Applications; Enhancing Your Department's Image; Feasibility Planning From "A" to "Z"; Creative and Innovative Revenue Ideas/Selling Your Political Bosses.
