Illinois is the second largest food processing state in the nation, with more than 95,000 people employed in the manufacture of food products. To assist food buyers (in such businesses as retail and wholesale outlets, school districts, and hotels), who may be interested in purchasing Illinois products, the Department of Agriculture has published two versions of its food guide — one for domestic buyers, the other for the international market. Each provides information on over 650 food processers and suppliers; included are names of contact persons, addresses, phone numbers, and the kinds of products available.
