DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICES

The Village of Sauk Village, a growing Chicago suburb, is accepting applications for an individual to serve as the head of the Public Services Department. This is a new position, created due to the combination of the public works department and the building department. The department has 17 employees and an annual budget of $2,500,000. Job requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, and five years of increasingly responsible work experience, with at least three years supervisory experience. Municipal experience is preferred. The successful applicant must be a proven team player, innovative problem solver, possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, and strong supervisory skills. Salary open, DOQ, plus full benefits. Residency required within one year of appointment.

CHIEF OF POLICE

City of Lexington, MO (5,100 pop.), located on Missouri River in Lafayette Co., approx. 55 miles NE of Kansas City. Responsible for day to day department operations, 6 officers, FY94 annual budget $208,000. Successful applicant will be at least 25 years of age at time of appointment and state certified, have bachelor's degree or equivalent, have minimum of 4-5 years experience in law enforcement, budgeting and supervisory experience, leadership ability, strong oral and written communication and training skills. Experience in risk management and public safety a plus. Residency requirement. Salary range $19,000-$23,000 DOQ, plus full benefits package.

CHIEF OF POLICE

CHIEF OF POLICE

The Village of Rockton, Illinois, is seeking candidates for the position of Chief of Police. The incumbent is responsible for the day to day operations of the Police Department and will perform some patrol functions. The following minimum qualifications have been established: Minimum of 7 years experience in Police Work; Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity; Associates degree in Police Science or related field with a BA preferred; Advanced Supervisory training through a recognized training program; Preference given to a D.A.R.E. certified instructor; Certification with the Illinois Police Training Board must be obtained within 60 days after appointment; Rockton residency required within 1 year after completion of a 6 month probationary period. Applicants will be required to submit to oral and written interviews, psychological testing; a complete physical; and a comprehensive background check. Salary commensurate with experience to $32,000. BUILDING-ZONING INSPECTOR

The Village of Lake Zurich is seeking a qualified Building and Zoning Inspector. The person selected for this position will be responsible for conducting inspections on all phases of new construction as well as existing residential and commercial buildings to verify compliance with the B.O.C.A. National Building Codes and the Village Zoning Code. This position requires a person who has excellent communication skills and is able to deal with the public effectively and tactfully. The salary for this position will depend upon the qualifications of the individual selected.

FIRE CHIEF

The Village of Riverdale, a progressive southern suburb of Chicago with a population of 13,600, and a budget of $9.2 million is recruiting for the position of Fire Chief. The Fire Chief is a key member of the Mayor and Village Board's staff and acts as the building commissioner and zoning administrator. The Fire Chief directs all activities and personnel involved to building, electrical, health, plumbing and zoning inspections. The Fire Chief also directs all aspects of fire prevention, suppression, emergency medical services and the administration, revision and implementation of fire and inspectional service codes. Requires a degree in fire science, public administration or a related field, or a combination of education and experience. Must have a minimum of five years full time experience as a chief or assistant chief. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record in management skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary commensurate with experience.
