COOPERATE BUT DEMOLISH

The new Lake in the Hills Village Hall was completed in October, 1992. At the same time the Lake in the Hills Sanitary District had need for a new and enlarged sewage lift station.

With the new Village Hall and the District requirements we worked out a joint agreement to have the District demolish the old Village Hall in return for using the land to construct the sewage lift station.

The just recently demolished Village Hall was the first permanent home of the Village of Lake in the Hills after incorporation. The old hall, a former residence, was occupied by the Village and by the Police Department in 1968. Long time residents had some nostalgia for the old structure but it had no architectural significance.

We accomplished the demolition and the joint agreement with a minimum amount of meetings between the two governments, while saving the Village of Lake in the Hills over $15,000 and providing a lift station for the community that will eventually serve a population of almost 10,000.

The joint sewage lift station, now in the construction stages, will compliment the new Village Hall and its architecture. The joint effort was assisted by Lake in the Hills District Manager Ross Nelson, Lake in the Hills Village Administrator Milton R. Faurot, Engineering Consultants Wight Consulting Engineers, Inc. and our attorneys Zukowski, Rogers, Flood and McArdle.

We continue to look for opportunities that benefit both governments and thereby the citizens of the Village of Lake in the Hills and environs. •
