As the designated hitter for Major League Baseball on Capiol Hill, the Illinoisan faces some new challenges. But this son of a hog farmer from Milford still shows up for work by 6 a.m., wears clothes you could find at Kmart and answers every call the day it comes in. He is, in short, part of a dying breed.
