POLICE COMMANDER

The Village of Wheeling, Illinois, (population 30,000), a progressive and growing community in northwest suburban Chicago, seeks a dynamic individual to assume the duties of Police Commander in the Field Services Division of the Police Department. This sworn, exempt rank will report directly to the Deputy Chief of Police, Field Services Division. The Police Department, which is accredited, currently employs one Chief, two Deputy Chiefs, eight sergeants, 40 sworn officers, and 20 non-sworn support staff, and has a current budget in excess of 4.2 million. Responsibilities include the direct supervision of one or more units of the Field Services Division, assisting in the formulation and implementation of Department policies and procedures, providing administrative and technical support to the Deputy Chief, Field Services Division, and other duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or related field desirable. Requires extensive experience in the field of law enforcement and a minimum of 3-5 years supervisory/administrative experience, strong organizational and management skills, demonstrated skills in team building, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Salary range: $49,000-$54,000 DOQ plus excellent benefit package.

ASSISTANT TO THE ADMINISTRATOR
