FOR SALE

The City of Pontiac, Illinois will be selling its 1979 Vactor Sewer Cleaning Machine through sealed bids that will be opened on July 15, 1994. The sewer machine is a model 810 Vactor with a 1979 Ford chassis that has only 18,000 miles on the truck. The fan/catch basin cleaning portion of the machine has a Ford 300 cubic inch industrial motor with only 3,926 hours. This unit was manufactured in Streator Illinois and delivered to the City of Pontiac on April 29, 1979. This Vactor unit has been returned to the factory for all major repairs and maintenance over the past 15 years.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

The City of Warrenville, Illinois, population 13,390, is seeking applicants for the position of Community Development Director. Bachelor's Degree in Urban or Regional Planning or related field required. Three to six years progressively responsible experience required. Supervisory experience preferred. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

The City of Centralia, Illinois (population 14,274) is accepting applications for the position of Community Development Director. The Director is appointed by and reports directly to the City Manager. CITY PLANNER

The City of Metropolis is seeking applicants for the position of City Planner who, under the direct supervision of the Mayor, shall be responsible for the production and performance of a wide variety of tasks associated with current and long range planning projects. FINANCE DIRECTOR
$40,000-$50,000 (DOQ)

OVERALL PURPOSE: This position serves as Chief Financial Officer for the City, generally supervised by the Mayor. Directs the fiscal accounting; responsible for the administration of the payroll, accounts payable, revenue collection, data processing and accounting functions of the District.

QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Finance, Business Administration or Accounting. A Master's Degree or related degree and extensive experience in a public agency may fill the job requirement; At least five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative and management experience in an accounting or finance position with at least three (3) years experience in a municipal accounting or finance position; Thorough knowledge of municipal accounting and finance practices, state and local financial procedures and law; Valid Illinois Driver's License.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Advises Mayor and Council with respect to fiscal and budgeting policy. Consults and guides department heads concerning fiscal and budgeting matters and related policies, ordinances and laws; Prepares annual budget, appropriation ordinance, tax levy ordinance and other related fiscal ordinances; Develops and presents to Mayor and Council the Capital Improvement Bond Program. Prepares, in consultation with legal counsel and the financial advisors, necessary information and documents for sale of bonds; Responsible for the accounting of the various funds of the city according to generally accepted accounting practices. Provides necessary records and reports to the city's auditing firm during the annual audit of the city's accounts; Prepares and presents regular financial reports to the Mayor and Council. Prepares and presents financial reports as requested; Responsible for the daily administration of the payroll, accounts payable, data processing, and accounting activities of the city; Responsible for the recruiting, selection and disciplining of employees within Finance Department; Supervises both technical and clerical staff engaged in the financial data processing activities of the city.

OTHER FUNCTIONS: Ability to supervise personnel; Ability to perform with a minimum of supervision; Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public; Ability to take initiative and assure responsibility.

ENVIRONMENT: The department is adequately heated in the winter and air conditioned in the summer. All facilities in the department are cleaned and maintained.

ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

The Village of Grayslake, a rapidly growing Chicago suburb with a 1993 population of 11,300 is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Superintendent in the Public Works Department. The position involves the supervision, scheduling, and organising, of work crews and equipment in the performance of a wide range of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of public infrastructure and facilities. Supervision of private contractors used in the Village's extensive privatization program is required. The position requires the knowledge and skill to survey existing municipal facilities to implement an annual maintenance program. The individual would be expected to perform the duties of Superintendent of Public Works in the Superintendent's absence and assist in the preparation of the Department's operating and capital budgets. Other duties include the resolution of citizen complaints and the completion of maintenance tasks such as sewer and watermain repairs, snow plowing, asphalt placement, and the operation of heavy equipment. Ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years experience in Public Works or a related field and must possess a current Illinois CDL Class B with airbrakes vehicle operator's license and Illinois Class "C" water operator's license. The ideal candidate will also have a strong customer service orientation and strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed.
