CONSENT

Village support to the state to amend breathalyzer limit to .08 & increase fine to $1,000.00.

A RESOLUTION
TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS
OF UNDERAGE DRINKING

WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees created a Task Force to address the issue of underage drinking; and

WHEREAS, the Task Force on Parental Responsibility for Underage Drinking has met and seriously considered this issue; and

WHEREAS, underage drinking has become a significant problem; and

WHEREAS, several deaths have resulted from underage drinking in the Northwest suburbs;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF ARLINGTON HEIGHTS:

SECTION ONE: That the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Arlington Heights:

1. Support an amendment to the state statute changing the DUI limit to .08.

2. Support an increase in the maximum allowable fine for liquor code violations from $500.00 to $1,000.00.

SECTION TWO: That the Village Clerk is directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Governor of the State of Illinois, the Village's representatives to the Illinois Legislature, and the Illinois Municipal League.
