DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICES

The Village of Glendale Heights, Illinois (population 29,000) has an immediate opening for a full-time Director of Public Services. Candidates must be able to provide leadership and direction and perform complex supervisory, administrative and professional work in planning, organizing and directing the Public Services Department consisting of approximately 55 full-time and 20 seasonal and summer staff. The department is divided into five divisions: Streets, Water & Sewer, Park and Grounds, Sewage Treatment Plant and Fleet Maintenance. Duties will include, evaluate public service needs and formulate short and long range plans to meet these needs; oversees the development or update of Capital Improvement Program and other plans involving the municipal infrastructure; oversees preparation of engineering plans and specifications, bidding, competency of contractors and vendors and the selection criteria for public contracts; oversees project management of construction, time and budget parameters; oversees the maintenance of infrastructure and other records; maintain regular contact with consulting engineers, construction project engineers, County, State and Federal agencies, professional and technical groups and the general public. Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering, public administration or a closely related field, minimum of ten years previous public works supervisory experience including at least two years in utilities or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Salary range: $53,685-$61,048.

DIRECTOR OF BUILDING AND ZONING

The Mendota Fire Department is accepting sealed bids for the sale of a used Eagle Breathing Air Compressor. The compressor was purchased by the Mendota Fire Department in November 1980, and was removed from service June 4, 1994. The unit was replaced with a new compressor with a higher volume of air output. (CFM) Description: Eagle Breathing Air Compressor, between 435 to 440 hours, 5 CFM capacity, 4500 psi capability, 5 HP 3-Phase Electric Motor, 208-230/460 volts, 12.8-12/6 amps. The compressor had a major rebuild April 29, 1994, that included one piston and sleeve in third stage, new valves in second and third stage, and first stage valve cleaned. Work ticket to document upon request. (430 hours at time of this repair) Purchase of a new compressor was already in the works when the break-down of the old one happened.
