10th Annual State Chapter Conference
Oct. 23-26 in Illinois

The Illinois NENA Chapter will co-host the 10th Annual Combined APCO/NENA/ICC 9-1-1 State Chapter Conference October 23-26 in Decatur, Illinois. Again, the Holiday Inn in Decatur has been selected as the conference site because of its central location in the state and the services provided.

Currently, there are more than 450 APCO members and 380 NENA members within Illinois. Because many belong to both APCO and NENA, the officers of both groups have combined efforts and with the assistance of the Illinois Commerce Commission, to hold a combined APCO, NENA, ICC conference.

Richard H. Tuma, President of the Illinois chapter of NENA reported that the conference attendance has grown each year and now averages more than 500. This year, in addition to the annual state chapter meeting the north central Region of NENA will participate as a regional conference. Attendance this year is expected to be 700 plus. Tuma said the general sessions appeal to a broad spectrum of attendees while the breakout sessions are geared to specific areas of interest. Vendors are an important part of the conference and they support the effort by providing product and service displays as well as participating on various panels and as speakers. There are 50+ vendor booths along with meeting rooms available for those vendors who wish to have small meetings or provide special presentations,

Sunday evening the Illinois Chapter of NENA will host a reception for all NENA officers throughout the North Central region.

Besides the educational aspect, this conference provides an opportunity to share ideas and investigate solutions on important current topics.
