ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL TREASURERS ASSOCIATION

One hundred and thirty (130) Municipal Treasurers and Finance Officers from throughout the State of Illinois attended the 20th Annual Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association (IMTA) seminar. The site of the conference was the Springfield Renaissance.

Mr. Tom Jones of the Illinois Department of Insurance spoke to the group regarding the annual audit of Police and Fire Pension Funds. Larry Frang of the Illinois Municipal League discussed the pending legislation before the General Assembly as their session was drawing to a close. Dr.Jack Van Der Slik of Sangamon State University gave a presentation on Politics vs. Professionalism. Other topics of discussion included investment strategies, development of internal controls and the evolution of banking policies and fees.

The Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association has 380 full members from the entire State of Illinois and has been in existence since 1973.

The IMTA recently bestowed the Certified Illinois Municipal Treasurer (CIMT) award on eleven treasurers from throughout the State. The certification process is a multi-faceted program that emphasizes education, practical application and professional service. The CIMT designation is the highest award given by the IMTA. The CIMT designates are:
