FACILITY SUPERINTENDENT

Village of Glendale Heights, IL (27,973) Salary Range: $44,699-$50,586. D.O.Q. DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

Oswego, IL. The newly formed Oswego Economic Development Corporation is seeking an experienced hands-on professional to design and implement business retention, expansion, and attraction programs. The Corporation is a nonprofit public-private partnership of local taxing bodies, utilities, and businesses operated by an independent board of directors. Oswego is a rapidly growing village of 7,000 located in the far western suburbs of Chicago. Starting salary is $38,000-$50,000 plus benefits. Ideal candidate is American Economic Development Council Certified or equivalent, has 5+ years in a full-time economic development position, possesses a thorough knowledge of small business planning, finance, and marketing; has experience with downtown redevelopment and industrial parks, is familiar with zoning and land-use issues; has produced successful development strategies in fringe areas which promote an upscale small-town image; has excellent organizational, communications, and public relations skills; is a self-starter, and is recommended by government bodies and business organizations.

PLANNING AND ZONING DIRECTOR

The City of East Peoria, a 21,000 population economically aggressive Commission form of government city, is seeking applications for the position of Planning and Zoning Director, a senior level position in the city administration. Specific responsibilities include administering and enforcing the zoning, sign and subdivision codes of the City; coordination of grant programs; administering the revolving loan fund and performance of special projects as assigned. This Department Head level position reports to the elected Commissioner of Accounts and Finance. The successful applicant will coordinate and staff both the Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals, work with petitioners, review legal notices and supervise the building inspections and code enforcement functions. Degree and experience in urban planning or related field required. Master's degree preferred. Good organization, human relations, and communication skills required, as well as a strong desire to play an instrumental role in maintaining the positive direction of the community. The successful applicant must also be self-motivating and innovative. Salary range $45,000-$54,000.

BUILDING/PROPERTY/
ZONING/HEALTH INSPECTOR

The City of Highwood, population 5300, is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as City Inspector. Responsibilities include; Administration of BOCA, Property Maintenance, Building, Zoning, Health, and all related matters and codes. Inspector must take primary role in establishing and maintaining current codes, ordinances, and related regulations, programs and policies of the City. He/she must conduct field inspections, respond to complaints, and perform all enforcement activities. Inspector must create and issue notices and other appropriate responses to violations, and conduct all follow up as necessary to achieve compliance, including court preparation, appearances and testimony. Review and assist in granting permits, review and analyze site plans and related items. Provide coordination and assistance in connection with all related city planning activities. Provide coordination and assistance to City officials and City Council, including attending meetings as necessary. Perform all other ancillary and related functions/duties as assigned. Associate's degree or equivalent required. Knowledge and skills necessary with BOCA National Building Code, Property Maintenance Code, National Electric Code, Illinois Plumbing Code, and Federal/State Accessibility Codes. BOCA Training certification, as well as at least 2 years experience in property maintenance, building construction, or related fields, and some proficiency and Spanish language desired. SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS

The City of Macomb (population 20,000) is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of Superintendent of Streets. Macomb is located in West Central Illinois and is home to Western Illinois University (enrollment 11,000). The Street Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of the construction, repair and maintenance of city streets, alleys, sidewalks, storm sewer systems, drainageways, rights-of-way and other city properties. The Superintendent supervises and directs the work of nine full-time and four part-time, seasonal personnel. The department has an annual operating budget of $575,000. The city offers a competitive wage and benefit plan; the annual salary is $40,000. Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience. Advanced training/education, construction inspection experience, and/or supervisory work experience is highly desirable.
