Arkansas League Director Don Zimmerman, chair of the State League Steering Committee, has appointed IML Executive Director Kenneth A. Alderson to serve on a special state league advisory committee to work with the National League of Cities to enhance Access Local Government (ALG) as a service for state leagues. In particular, the committee will focus on implementing a few pilot state league forums within ALG and exploring strategies to provide opportunities for all state leagues to use ALG to communicate and share information with their members.

Connie Munroe
Congratulations to Connie Monroe, Manager of Accounting for the Illinois Municipal League, on the occasion of her 30th anniversary with the League. Connie began her tenure with the League on February 16, 1966, when the League was headquartered at 1220 S. 7th Street in Springfield. The Municipal League had seven employees at the time — Lon Sargent was Executive Director and Senator Stanley B. Weaver, former Mayor of Urbana, and now Assistant Majority Leader in the Senate, was League President. At the time, Connie served as secretary to Steve Sargent. Her career with the League spans four executive directors — A. L. (Lon) Sargent, Steven O. Sargent, Thomas G. Fitzsimmons and Kenneth A. Alderson. Best wishes for 30 more years. •

The ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL REVIEW continues to be an open forum of expression for municipalities. Articles appearing in the Review do not necessarily express the views of the League or its staff but those of the various authors.
