PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

The City of Highland Park (Population 30,575, Salary Range $67,000-$83,750) is seeking a Director of Public Works to manage a department comprised of the following seven functions: Engineering, Water Production, Equipment Maintenance, Forestry, Streets, Water Distribution/Sanitary-Storm Sewers and Transit. VILLAGE ENGINEER

The historic community of Lemont (10,500) is seeking the services of a licensed professional engineer. Lemont is located in the southwest suburbs of Cook County in the Des Plaines River Valley. The community is experiencing rapid residential and commercial growth, and is adjacent to 1-355 Tollway extension. This new position will be responsible for performing and coordinating completion of development reviews, construction inspection, transportation engineering, drainage, water & sewer system improvements and general engineering services. Successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years of municipal engineering experience, possess a degree in civil engineering and be licensed in the State of Illinois. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, along with experience working with the public. Previous supervisory experience is highly desirable. Present salary range is $41,449-$53,000 depending upon experience and qualifications.

CHIEF OF POLICE

The Village of Woodridge, a rapidly growing community in south central DuPage County, Illinois, has an opening for a Chief of Police. Position reports directly to the Village Administrator.The Chief is responsible for the coordination of all functions of the Police Department.

The Department currently consists of 46 sworn officers and 23 civilians. The Department has a number of specialized police units and has a reputation for aggressive law enforcement initiatives.

Successful candidate will have highly refined interpersonal skills. Experience with labor relations and budget preparation for a department of similar size is desirable. A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible managerial experience in law enforcement is required.

Successful applicant will hold a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Graduation from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command or the FBI National Academy is desirable. Applicant must be a certified Law Enforcement Officer as required by the Illinois Local Governmental Law Enforcement Officer's Training Board.
