Beginning a new year

LOOKING BACK over the first year of Illinois Issues, we find that more than 90 articles by some 70 different authors have appeared in our pages. In addition, 47 House and Senate roll calls (plus two one-chamber roll calls) have been published. Forty-four court decisions, 80 attorney general's opinions, and 55 state publications have been reported. In all, well over a quarter of a million words on the public business and concerns of Illinois have been printed.

Looking forward, this is the year we must call on friends and supporters to help us build the circulation needed to continue to operate after our Ford Foundation grant expires. Our second year begins with approximately 3,000 circulation. Our plans call for more than doubling this. Word of mouth is the best form of advertising. Many of our readers have already helped us gain new subscribers this way. They have told their business associates and friends about the value of Illinois Issues. Help us increase our circulation and help those you know keep better informed: Tell them about Illinois Issues. / The Staff
