Appointments

Ben K. Miller, 39, of Springfield as a circuit judge for the Seventh Judicial Circuit by the Illinois Supreme Court, effective October 11. A member of the Board of Governors and treasurer of the Illinois State Bar Association and an associate professor of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Miller has been engaged in the private practice of law in Springfield since 1961. He succeeds Judge J. Waldo Ackerman who was appointed to the U.S. District Court bench.

Rep. Richard O. Hart (D., Benton) to the State Pension Laws Commission, effective August 26, by House Speaker William A. Redmond. Benton replaces Rep. John F. Sharp (D., Wood River) who resigned August 19.

Dr. James P. Paulissen, West Chicago, as a public member of the Commission on Children, effective August 23, by Senate Minority Leader William C. Harris for a term expiring in August 1977. He replaces Ms. Gordon Hallstrom of Evanston who resigned May 1.

Sue Jones Troute, Williamsville, as women's equity supervisor by Supt. of Education Joseph M. Cronin, effective August 24. She will be responsible for Title IX coordination for state and local educational agencies, service regions and various colleges and universities.

Agaliece Miller, Chicago, as commissioner of the Division of Unemployment Insurance, effective September 1, by Donald L. McLaurin, Jr., administrator of the Bureau of Employment Security. Mrs. Miller has been assistant commissioner for the last year and has been with the agency for 37 years. She fills the vacancy left by Robert Haughey who resigned August 9.

Spencer L. Kimball, Chicago, as an independent hearing officer to hold public hearings on workmen's compensation insurance rates by State Insurance Director Michael P. Duncan on September I. Kimball is executive director of the American Bar Foundation and a professor of law at the University of Chicago.

Robert E. May, Wilmette, as senior assistant treasurer-international for G. D. Searle & Co., effective August 1, by Searle treasurer and vice president Paul B. Higdon. May will direct the financing activities and currency management of all of Searle's foreign operations. Since 1973 he has been director of finance and administration for Searle laboratories.
  Resignations

Robert B. Glade, Kankakee, as chairman of the Capital Development Board, effective September 3. Glade, who was appointed to the board in February, confirmed that his resignation was prompted by his refusal to go along with Gov. Dan Walker's efforts to oust Frank Matzke as executive director of the CDB. The governor has appointed Bureau of the Budget Director Leonard D. Schaeffer of Springfield to replace Glade for a term that expires January 14, 1980. Schaeffer will continue in the budget post.
