MR. MARIO PARENTE has been appointed Director of Parks and Recreation for the Oakbrook Terrace Community Park District. He previously served as Recreation Supervisor for the Westchester Park District for the past seven years. Mr. Parente will be involved in expanding the adult educational programs as well as adding additional programs for pre-schoolers and teens. Another of his primary concerns is to establish a foundation for providing efficient programs to the participants of the district.

MR. RAY OCHROMOWICZ has recently been promoted to the position of Special Facilities Administrator for the Oak Lawn Park District. His responsibilities will encompass the administration and operation of the swimming pools and indoor ice rink. Previously Ochromowicz held the position of Athletic Supervisor with the Park District. He is an active member in the Illinois Park & Recreation Association, and he also serves as Treasurer of the South Suburban Park & Recreation Professionals' Association.

MS. SANDRA LEE YOUNG and MS. KAREN HYDE have recently been hired as Recreation Supervisors for the Bensenville Park District. Both are graduates of Western Illinois University with Bachelor of Science degrees in Recreation Administration. Young administers dance, adult and specialist programs, trips and special events. Hyde supervises preschool, arts and crafts, camps, senior citizen and playground programs.

Pictured below are members of the Wheeling Park District's recreation staff. MARY STRAUS, Director of Recreation, received her B.S. degree in Parks and Recreation Administration from Arizona State University in 1975. Prior to her present appointment in August, 1979, she served as Recreation Program Supervisor for the Park District of Highland Park. Straus is a member of IPRA, NRPA, and has served on the state conference committee for three years. She is also a member of IPRA's Recreation Program Section Cultural Arts Committee.

DON KAPPEL is Recreation Coordinator in charge of Athletics. He received his B.S. in Recreation from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, where he also completed course work for a Master's degree. Before joining the Wheeling staff in August, 1979, Kappel served as a graduate assistant in the Intramural/Recreational Sports Department at Southern.

LISA ANDERSON was appointed Recreation Coordinator in charge of Adult Activities in October, 1979. Prior to that she was Recreation Director at the Dwight, Illinois, Correctional Center for Women. She has a B.S. degree in Corrections with a minor in Recreation and Park Administration.

STEVE HOLMES, a 1978 graduate of Illinois State University with a B.S. degree in Recreation, is Recreation Coordinator in charge of the Indoor Pool, Health Club, and Teen Center. Prior to his Wheeling appointment he worked as Recreation Supervisor for the Barrington Park District.

DEB CARLSON, Recreation Coordinator in charge of Children's Programs, received her B.S. in Recreation from Western Illinois University in 1975. She is an Associate Board Member of IPRA and is chairperson for the Suburban Park and Recreation Association Playground Institute for 1980.
