In This Issue

By Ted Flickinger, Managing Editor

Physical fitness is the focus of this month's magazine. We're exploring that subject from the perspective of insurance companies, a medical doctor and a nationally recognized health authority. A separate article discusses the impact of daily physical education on students in Illinois' public schools.

Two sections are also making their debut in this issue. "Speak-out" is a forum for our readers to voice their views on issues of special concern. "For Your Information" is a news column containing information about programs and services of interest to park and recreation professionals. If you need information about a related subject and are having difficulty finding the answer, let the column assist you.

In addition, this issue contains a wide variety of articles from our colleagues and other professionals. Some of these features discuss dental insurance, computers, youth baseball, a wetlands demonstration project at the Lake County Forest Preserve District and the Prairie State Games.

We are pleased to have Lt. Gov. George Ryan featured in the "Be Our Guest" spotlight. His Citizens' Advocate Program can be helpful when responding to constituents' needs.

As always, we hope you find the magazine informative, interesting and helpful.
