Service directory

The Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) publishes a Directory of State Services for Handicapped People. The book lists the different State agencies providing assistance to disabled persons. Education, medical, housing and job placement services are among the areas covered.

Copies of the directory are available without cost from the DORS Public Information Unit, 623 E. Adams St., Springfield, IL 62705.

Special recreation grants

Local recreation agencies and nonprofit groups now can apply for project funding under Section 316 of the Rehabilitation Act (special recreation programs for handicapped individuals). April 2 has been set as a tentative closing date. The fiscal 1985 Department of Education budget provides $2.1 million tor the program.

Applications will automatically be mailed to agencies and organizations which received Section 316 grants in fiscal 1984. Others wishing to receive fiscal 1985 application information should request placement on the Special Recreation Programs for Handicapped Individuals grant mailing list.
