Editor's Note:

With this issue of Illinois Heritage we continue our series devoted to specific regions of our Prairie State, in this case west-central Illinois. Guest editor Chris Young, who grew up in Chicago but taught history at Jacksonville's MacMurray College before moving on to Indiana University Northwest last year, has assembled a fascinating collection of articles from several outstanding scholars, and the topics are sure to delight. In addition, we've included a new feature in this issue: restaurant reviews. We hope you enjoy this armchair excursion into "Forgottonia" and will share your comments with us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,
William Furry
Editor
