  • Research provides the statistics we need to backup our benefits message. Spreading the message that parks and recreation benefit society and the environment is a critical part of maintaining a positive public image. Repeating the words to the public about how necessary we are to the health of our community carries no weight. Providing statistics to sup-port our claims packs a punch.

    Maintaining a strong legislative presence gives IPRA the power to benefit each agency in the state, and therefore, to benefit each park and recreation professional. This means a more public voice and the opportunities to affect meaningful change. It means we are their watchdogs, guarding their best interests in areas such as environmental responsibility, playground safety and child labor laws.

    As today's young professional advance in the field, their commitment to parks and recreation affects the future of the profession. A mentoring program will pass on all we have gained in parks and recreation from past generations. The future will hold the balance of youthful strength, creativity and optimism, plus the experience and stability passed on by mentors in the field. Park districts in Illinois will be stronger and more viable than ever.

    IPRA's Mission for Its Members IPRA's mission is to provide opportunities that enhance the professional well-being of its members, and to act as an advocate for the lifetime benefits of parks, recreation and conservation. This is what IPRA has been working toward, on your behalf We're establishing a plan for the future to build on current strengths, to examine the areas that require attention, and to position IPRA members and professionals to present our best image in the years ahead. We are committed to be not just a presence in the lives of the people of Illinois, but to make a difference. We do make the difference.
