Cover page
Surrounded by taxi-packed streets in Chicago's booming South Loop business district is an oasis called the "Spirit of Music Garden." This space basically was forgotten until the Chicago Park District revitalized it in 1998 with landscaping, benches, umbrellas, a dance floor and antique lighting. Now the area is resplendant with flowers and draws swing dancers to the Chicago Summer Dance program, artists from Gallery 37 in the Parks and city residents who just want a pretty place to sit.
