THE ILLINOIS ASSOCIATION OF PARK DISTRICTS is to associate park districts of the state and all tax-supported agencies rendering parks, recreation, conservation and other leisure services in advocacy of necessary State and Federal laws in disseminating information, and in bringing paid employees into a professional relationship, all for the purpose of improving and expanding these particular tax-supported services.

ITS SERVICES INCLUDE:

• COMMUNICATIONS through the media of publications, exchange of information, and developing an acquaintanceship between persons in the field;

• LEGISLATION for parks, recreation and leisure services is studied and improvements are recommended to the General Assembly and other legislative bodies;

• ANNUAL MEETINGS are provided on a conference and trade exhibit basis to help all members keep pace with this growing field;

• REGIONAL CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS are offered to bring best and latest developments to the doorstep of all park districts and to carry such learning to a depth that permits immediate application to the local situation;

• CONSULTATION and FIELD SERVICE is offered, particularly to new park districts first becoming organized, and to older park districts confronted with problems requiring outside assistance;

• PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT of a program to help all employees of park districts assume professional status and to realize growth on the job; and,

• SURVEYS, STUDIES AND REPORTS are coordinated and compiled periodically, whenever and wherever a special problem of statewide interest is indicated.
